Bio

Mr. Aaron-James Young has been the Choral Director at Perry Middle School since 2018. A native of Milledgeville, Georgia, he received his Bachelors of Music Education: Vocal/Choral Concentration from Albany State University in Albany, Georgia. While attending Albany State he was a member of the ASU Concert Chorale, Chamber Singers, Opera Workshop, Anointed ASU Gospel Choir, Marching Ram Show Band, Concert Band, and Theatre Ensemble. Currently, you can see him ministering in song with Beulahland Bible Church Worship and Arts. 

While at Perry Middle School, he has grown the choral program from scratch. Before he arrived at Perry Middle, they had not had chorus in over 12 years. In his short time,  Perry Middle choirs' have earned Superior and Excellent ratings at GMEA Choral Evaluations, had students participate in District Honor Choir, participated is Sixth Grade Statewide Honor Choir, and multiple students have made All State Chorus. He currently serves as the middle school organizer for GMEA’s District XI Honor Choir since 2016 and the HCBE Middle Chorus PLC Lead Teacher.

Professional affiliations include National Association for Music Education, Georgia Music Educators Association, The National Education Association, Georgia Association of Educators, Albany State University National Alumni Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity of America, INC., and Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society.
