Sherry Akin is a veteran teacher who began her teaching career in 1988.  She graduated with a BS in Education from the University of Montevallo in Alabama, obtained her MA Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and completed her Specialist's Degree from Piedmont College.   Mrs. Akin's career began in Birmingham, Alabama where she taught for nine years.  After a brief stop in Tennessee, she moved to Georgia and has been a teacher in Houston County since 1999.  She has taught at Eagle Springs Elementary and Perdue Elementary and has served as a district math coach for the county. Mrs. Akin has been at Perry Middle School since 2013.  She is also a sponsor of the Perry Animal Welfare Society (PAWS Club).  This year marks her 35th year as an educator and she enjoys nothing more than helping students grow as learners.
