Sherry Akin is a veteran teacher who began her teaching career in 1988. She graduated with a BS in Education from the University of Montevallo in Alabama, obtained her MA Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and completed her Specialist's Degree from Piedmont College. Mrs. Akin's career began in Birmingham, Alabama where she taught for nine years. After a brief stop in Tennessee, she moved to Georgia and has been a teacher in Houston County for the past 22 years. She has taught at Eagle Springs Elementary and Perdue Elementary and has served as a math coach for the county. Mrs. Akin has been at Perry Middle School for the past seven years. She teaches 6th Grade Accelerated Math and Honors Social Studies and is a sponsor of the Perry Animal Welfare Society (PAWS Club). This year marks her 32nd year as an educator and she enjoys nothing more than helping students grow as learners. Her favorite subject to teach is math.
